I'm sure you've all guessed that some changes were in the works based on my recent requests regarding forum hosting and licensing.

We are officially moving the CSLA source repository and bugtracker to github, and over time will also be moving the FAQ wiki and other online doc resources. Everything will go to

www.cslanet.com

The forum will, for now, remain in its current location. I'm still looking for alternative forum packages/hosts that offer support for modern browsers. But neither Google groups nor CodePlex really seemed to have the ease of use I want for this community - and I'd say that your feedback was lukewarm for these options :)

So in summary:

Thank you for your input and support of CSLA .NET and the community!

What made you choose github over codeplex?

RockfordLhotka replied on Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Here are my findings based on my requirements.

Github:

YES Git source control repo

YES Issue tracking

YES Download releases (via pages)

NO Discussion forum

YES Wiki for documentation

YES Professional appearance (via pages)

SOME Less work for Rocky

YES “Cool” hosting site

CodePlex:

YES Git source control repo

YES Issue tracking

YES Download releases

SO-SO Discussion forum

YES Wiki for documentation

SO-SO Professional appearance

YES Less work for Rocky

SO-SO “Cool” hosting site

Couple this with some other factors:

It is a bit odd to choose github while so much feedback pointed to codeplex, but i don't mind that much. Github is not bad at all Yes The bug tracking seems to be better then codeplex.

Not fun that http://www.csla.net is a school site, so we have to deal with http://www.cslanet.com

Rocky,

Thank you for changing over to github. I was going nuts trying to import the SVN repo to a bitbucket HG repo.  I think it an excellent decision to move the framework forward and allow more input from the community.

Regards Jamie.
