Hi,

I'm looking at Notification Services to send emails out to our customers if their contract is about to expire soon or a new version of our software is released.

Has anyone delived into this product before?  What's the best way to integrate Csla and NS?  Or is that not recommended?

Andy

Bumping this up.. hopefully I'm not the first here to explore NS.

Andy, just so you know you're not alone...  I've just started delving into this myself.  I'm anxious to read whatever feedback anyone with some experience has to offer.

I'm glad there's someone else out there working with this.

I'm starting off on someting non-standard; I don't have any data I want to store in my SubscriptionClass element.

Just wanted to update, incase anyone is interested.

First off, Shyam Pather's book is an excellent resource.

Its similar to going through the samples, but provides a much greater detail and insight as to why you build the sample a certain way.  Actually its much like Rocky's book; it explains why the framework is designed the way it is, then takes you through building each layer.

So far, I'm pretty impressed with how much power NS seems to offer, and how simple it can be to build your notification application.  You can build custom components to handle anything it can't do out of the box, but so far all I need to do is create an xml file describing what I want it to do (some of which is simple Sql statements).

I'm voting NS as a great framework that isn't getting enough attention; if you need to send notifications in response to changes of data in your database, look into NS.  Subscribers can be pretty much anything too, so if you need to notify another system, NS can help there too.
