The CSLA .NET Version 2.1 Handbook is available NOW at http://store.lhotka.net for both C# and VB.

Additionally, version 2.1.3 of CSLA .NET is now available for download from this location.

Version 2.1.3 includes some bug fixes and minor enhancements. The enhancements are primarily around the CslaDataSource web control, which now provides more integrated support for paging and sorting.

Most importantly, version 2.1.3 is the specific version described in my CSLA .NET Version 2.1 Handbook. I am releasing this as a ~160 page ebook, available in editions for both C# and VB, for purchase directly from my web site.

This new book is best thought of as a sequel to my my Expert C# 2005 Business Objects and Expert VB 2005 Business Objects books. It covers the changes made since CSLA .NET 2.0 was released: how the framework has changed, and how to use the new features and capabilities. Please note that this is not a replacement for those books: it expands on them.

I hope you enjoy CSLA .NET 2.1.3, and the new book. Thank you, code well, have fun!

Great!  Just got the C# book, thx!

FYI, I'm from the Cayman Islands (Grand Cayman) but it charged me tax on the purchase.  I couldn't care less about the extra $1.54, but just thought I'd let you know as I'm guessing the store isn't meant to do that unless I'm located in the same state as you.

Just an FYI, please don't try to refund or anything like that.

Cheers!

Tony

My state apparently requires that I charge this tax because I'm based physically in my state. This is what my tax advisor tells me anyway, and I surely don't want to get myself in trouble with the tax man...

Just got mine, waiting for the confirmation email.

I tried very hard to buy two copies of the C# book, but I was unsuccessful.

First, the PayPal interface would not show me my Amex card as a payment option.  Then I tried to add my Amex card as there is an option to add cards.  It would not let me add the Amex card, because it said that the Amex card was already attached to my account.  So, I finally tried to bypass the whole PayPal thing by pretending that I don't have a PayPal acccount, but it was too "smart" for me; it recognized my Amex card number and would not let me use it because it is already attached to a valid PayPal account.

From the website:

The email address or credit card has already been added to a PayPal account. If you have already opened a PayPal account, enter your email address and password into PayPal Checkout and click Log In. Otherwise, enter a different email address or credit card number to complete your purchase.

I'd like to buy your book, but your store makes it too difficult.

Bill,

I'm sorry that you encountered issues with PayPal. I can't control how PayPal works obviously, and any store software I use would almost certainly use them as a payment solution. The alternative is for me to go through all the hoops necessary to set up a relationship with a bank to handle credit card payments directly...

If you can't get PayPal to work for you through the store, you could use the Donation button on my web site or the forum, donate $24.95 and then send me an email letting me know the PayPal transaction number - I'll then email you a document.

Failing that, if you have a checking account at a US bank, email me and I'll arrange to take a check.

Thank you,

Rocky

It turns out that the expiration date on my Amex card as entered into PayPal had past.  Rather than telling me that the expiration date had past, it simply didn't offer the card as a payment option.  Then, because the card number itself was already registered, it wouldn't let me add it again as a new card.

It seems that I am guilty of thinking like a user.  My bad.  I sincerely apologize.

Hi Rocky,

I got my C# version!!!  Yeah!  Andres (Xal) told me about our Acknowledgements in your introductory pages.  Wow!  Thanks so much Smile [:)]  It was an honor to work with you on the design of your logo.  I am so looking forward to reading this latest edition.

Just purchased the C# book.  Thanks for the effort in making this, Rocky.  I hope that you are getting a better percentage of the ebook's profits.

Rocky,

Unless you've licensed the store code from ebay, you might want to be careful about using the "buy it now" phrase/visual button appearance.  I seem to remember reading about a couple of lawsuits where EBay went after people for stepping on their trademark or whatever it is they consider that to be.

I believe that button comes direct from paypal, but I don't know for sure. I do know that it came with the store software, so they'd be the ones who'd be directly in the line of fire I think (not being a lawyer, but that only makes sense). I appreciate your concern though, thank you.

Hi Rocky,

our Accounting-Department ordered the C# Version of the book,
but forgot to download it???

Is it possible to do the download again?

ajj3085 replied on Tuesday, February 06, 2007

Hi,

I did the same thing; actually I got to the receipt page and didn't think to click the Return to merchant page, even though I had read earlier in the day that you had to do that..

Rocky was kind enough to send me the ebook when I emailed him the reciept code.

Andy

RockfordLhotka replied on Tuesday, February 06, 2007

Unfortunately not. However, if you email me directly with the receipt I’ll forward you the document directly.

Thank you, Rocky

Thanks for the book Rocky,

I got my copy as well.

I bought the handbook....twice. I got the C# handbook the first time. I figured it was my fault so I made sure to click the "But It Now" from the VB thread. I still got the C# handbook. Can I get the VB handbook?

RockfordLhotka replied on Monday, February 12, 2007

No problem. If you email me your receipts directly I’ll take care of getting you the correct edition.
