browse through root objects

I'm trying to build a browsable editor screen, the user must have the ability to browse back and forth between root objects sort of rst.movenext, rst.moveprevious kinda thing.

I was thinking about populating a list with the primary key for the root object and based on what the user choose I'll fetch the root object using the primary key from the list.

Any suggestions?
