I think I need to mention this again.

Forums down Monday (most of the day) and today (most of the day) Is there any chance that you can keep the forums up while a backup takes place?

Also why is the server not coming back when you take the backup?  I've never heard of such a thing where a backup takes out the site, that's a pretty destructive backup solution.  Even if it fails it should restore the site.
