What is the deal with the advertizing?  I feel its distracting and out of place.

Give the guy a break! On top of giving us a great framework for the cost of a book (not even that if you don't want Smile [:)] ) , he is also providing this forum for no charge (in my opinion one of the most useful and helpful forums I have come across for a while).

If Rocky wants to make some extra cents to cover his hosting bill he has every right. (Rocky, stick a PayPal donation button on this site as well - I think it deserves it Wink [;)])

Anyway that's my two penneth

I'm not so apposed to advertizing per se, but its the flashing, and contantly moving banner ads that I find to be very desctracting and low rent.  Reminds me of AOL.

I have various options for different ad formats, and will be trying them over time to see what works best. I appreciate your feedback, but need to give each format a bit of time so I can get measurable results.

I agree. While I have no issues with a free web site doing whatever they want, I gotta say that my left eye hurts now every time I go here.

I like the ads because I'm hoping that it'll cover some costs. They are hard to look at, though.

I'm using Firefox and this has been what I'm seeing for the last few days.

RockfordLhotka replied on Monday, July 24, 2006

This is what you see for all pages, or just where the ad would appear?

I use FF too - about 50% of the time. I have no problem with the forum and FF other than that it sadly doesn't work as well with the text editor as IE...

Perhaps you are behind a firewall that is blocking my ad provider's web address or something?

bobhagan replied on Saturday, July 29, 2006

I was seeing this just where the ad was.  I had changed firewalls to Comodo (My Norton expired and it refused to let me renew over the internet and PC Mag had recommended this.)

After that I started getting notices that my C: drive was full (its NOT), and reformatted and re-installed eveything.  Now the ad shows again with the same firewall.
