The old forum will be deleted

When we go on the old forum (http://groups.msn.com/cslanet/messages.msnw ) , it said that MSN Groups  will be deleted in February 2009 and that it is possible to transfer it to Multiply group.

The fateful date is february the 21th.

Rocky, have you plan to transfer it ?  only for archive of course.

I think it could be useful because some posts of the new forum refers to the old forum.

I have no way to archive the old forum. I don't have time to write a screen scraper to run through all the posts, and I don't know of any other way to archive those old MSN lists.

If someone does know of a way to archive the list that's great, and I can put the resulting data on my server (depending on how it would be presented I suppose - I'm not sure how that'd work?).

I suppose if someone is willing to screen-scrape the list into a SQL table and write a 1-2 page web forms deal to display that data, I can put that table into my database and merge those pages into my web site.

Sorry - didn't read close enough.

What's multiply?

OK, I ran their migration thing. Or it is running. I don’t see how you are supposed to view imported posts – but maybe they just aren’t imported yet.

I can’t afford to spend time debugging their conversion process – so hopefully they are reliable.

I came to the old forum from a post on the new forum and I saw this information.

I thought it is important you know it before the old forum is deleted.

After you do what you want : migrate or not migrate.

It is true the old forum is not very important now. And I am agree with you : there will be some issues in the conversion process.

Cheers

The new site is

http://cslanet.multiply.com/

The content does appear to be migrating, though I don't see a clear search box or anything, so I'm not sure how useful it will be. At least it isn't lost.
